WINNIPEG - Bomber GM Joe Mack and director of player personnel Ken Moll aren’t afraid to beat the bush for import talent, and their travels often take them to the far outposts of the NCAA and beyond.

Take, for example, Friends University in Wichita, Kansas, where two current Bombers played their college ball together. It has 2,700 students and is a member of the NAIA — one step below NCAA Division III — so it gives defensive end Dexter Davis Jr. and wide receiver Doug Pierce a little extra motivation to prove they belong at the pro level.

“Yeah, definitely. I’m from a small town regardless,” Pierce said. “I’m from Arp, Texas. Nine hundred people at the most, so I’m used to it. A little extra hard work never hurt anybody.”
