Winnipeg Blue Bombers halfback Jonathan Hefney was charged with marijuana possession following a traffic stop in South Carolina on May 31 and faces a court date later this month.

According to South Carolina’s Herald Online, officers smelled marijuana when Hefney’s truck was pulled over at 1:20 a.m. in Rock Hill, S.C., which is Hefney’s home town.

The police searched Hefney and his passenger but didn’t find any drugs. They did, however, find 6.2 ounces of marijuana in the centre console, according to the report.

Hefney was given a ticket for first offence marijuana possession and has a court date on June 19. He reported to Bombers training camp on June 1.
