Receiver Terrence Edwards will not be ready for start of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' main training camp, which begins June 2.
Bombers head coach Tim Burke made the revelation after Day 1 of mini-camp, Wednesday, saying only that Edwards has a lower body issue.
“I’m not going to get into specifics in the off-season about an injury,” Burke said. “During the season I have no problem with it. I’ll just say he’s got a lower body injury and he’ll be back during training camp.”
Asked if Edwards had off-season surgery, Burke remained evasive.
“It was something that was taken care of after the season,” he said.
Burke said he expects his most veteran pass catcher to recover sometime during training camp and be ready for the season.
Edwards is in town but did not participate as a player today. He was not allowed to speak to the media.
