Buck Pierce says he appreciates the opportunity to keep his starting job with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The Bombers’ signing of new passers Max Hall and Chase Clement, Monday, included confirmation from head coach Tim Burke that the injury-prone Pierce is the No. 1 pivot going into the season.

“I feel blessed and excited to be going into a new season with the confidence of the organization behind me,” Pierce said, Tuesday, at the Bombers new home on the University of Manitoba campus. “I’ve been training like it’s my job all year. But you have to be the best at the end of camp.”
