New England Patriots snap up Blue Bombers' Jason Vega

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be losing defensive end Jason Vega to the NFL’s New England Patriots.

The Boston Globe reported the news on Saturday. It comes a month after Vega, a Massachusetts native, worked out for the Patriots. It’s believed an agreement has been in place for a few weeks, but it looks like the Bombers are going to make him wait until his contract expires on Feb. 15.

Vega, 25, spent the past two seasons with the Bombers, recording 66 tackles, 12 sacks and a fumble recovery. He will likely play outside linebacker with the Patriots, which is the position he played in college.
