Blue Bombers extend January's contract

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have officially extended the contract of left tackle Glenn January.

The Winnipeg Sun reported the extension, which is for a year and an option, several weeks ago. The contract was actually signed in December, so the signing bonus January received goes on the 2012 books for salary cap purposes.

January, a 29-year-old from Texas, was an East Division all-star last season after starting 17 games. He helped the Bombers finish with the fourth most rushing yards per game and was named the team’s most outstanding lineman.

“Glenn is an integral part of our offensive line who provides leadership and experience to our young stable of linemen,” GM Joe Mack said in a press release. “We’re happy to have him extend his contract so that we can build upon the consistency we began to establish last season.”
