WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers officially announced contract extensions for defensive back Johnny Sears and placekicker Justin Palardy on Thursday morning.
Sears was set to become a free agent in February, while Palardy would have been going into his option year in 2013. Both contracts are for a year and an option.
Palardy connected on 39 of 45 field goal attempts in 2012, which tied his own franchise record for accuracy.
“Winnipeg has been great to me since I arrived, and I’m excited to get this extension completed,” Palardy said in a press release. “It isn’t often a player gets an opportunity to be a part of the opening a new stadium, and I’m really excited for 2013 and beyond with the Bombers.”
Sears started 14 of 15 games last season at various positions, registering 50 tackles, six special teams tackles and three interceptions.
