By KIRK PENTON, QMI Agency
WINNIPEG - Quarterback Joey Elliott and defensive end Alex Hall have been named CFL players of the week. Elliott, the offensive player of the week, completed 33 of 43 passes for 406 yards and a touchdown in Winnipeg’s 32-25 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. It was just his third career start and the first win as a professional. Hall, the defensive player of the week, had one sack and two forced fumbles against the Tiger-Cats, including the play where he knocked the ball out of Hamilton quarterback Henry Burris’ hands as he was about to score a touchdown. Hall is tied for third in the CFL with four sacks. The Bombers (2-5) on Tuesday are continuing preparations for Friday night’s home game against the defending Grey Cup champion B.C. Lions (5-2).
