Browne done for year
By KIRK PENTON, QMI Agency
WINNIPEG - Brady Browne is done for the season after suffering the latest in a long list of injuries during his four seasons with the Bombers. Browne tore his Achilles tendon in the fourth quarter of Friday’s 36-26 loss to the Montreal Alouettes. He suffered the injury without being touched. Browne started at safety for the second straight game because regular starter Ian Logan was out with a leg injury. Logan could be back for Winnipeg’s first game after the bye week, on Aug. 16 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Browne played in one regular season game and both playoff contests last year after tearing his biceps in the pre-season. In 2010 he missed seven games due to a high ankle sprain and another undisclosed injury. In 2009 he sat out four games due to injury. The 29-year-old Burnaby, B.C., product becomes the sixth player on Winnipeg’s nine-game injured list, and he is the second member of the team, following running back Chris Garrett, to suffer a torn Achilles tendon this season. |
