WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers held their final practice before the Labour Day Classic on Friday, and the roster for the clash against the Saskatchewan Roughriders is coming into focus.
It's all but certain receiver Kito Poblah will be back in the starting lineup ahead of Aaron Hargreaves, while Canadian defensive back Daryl Townsend, who joined the team's practice roster last week, will make his CFL debut. The released Scott McHenry is obviously coming off the roster, and there's a chance rookie receiver Jade Etienne will be the second Canadian to sit, although that has not been confirmed.
Weak-side linebacker Marcellus Bowman (turf toe) will miss his second straight game for the Bombers, who lead the league with a 7-1 mark.
Meanwhile, head coach Paul LaPolice downplayed the billboards that are up in Regina this week. The Bombers' marketing department that paid for the electronic signs, which make fun of Saskatchewan's 1-7 record.
“We knew there were going to be billboards," LaPolice said. "We don’t know what’s on the billboards or anything. I can assure you that this team and this coaching staff has the utmost repsect for that team and that coaching staff. That stuff’s a lot of fun, and it’s a lot of fun for the fans.”
The Bombers will fly to Regina on Saturday morning and then bus back to Winnipeg following the game on Sunday.
