The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released diminutive receiver/kick returner Perry Floyd, along with running back Mike McLendon, both imports.
Floyd, at 5-foot-6 and wearing jersey No. 1, reminded many of former Bomber great Charles Roberts.
But head coach Paul LaPolice said the rookie from Wingate University, who had three fumbles in five games, dropped the ball too many times to stay on the roster.
Floyd had been Winnipeg’s busiest kickoff return man this season, with 19 returns for 346 yards, including a longest of 56 yards, but with a mediocre 18.2 average.
He also took back six punts for an average of 11.0 yards, with a long of 41.
Seeing spot duty at receiver, he caught two passes for 28 yards.
LaPolice also made official what had become apparent earlier in the week: that veteran Doug Brown would miss his second straight game in Vancouver, Saturday, due to a foot injury.
