WINNIPEG - Buck Pierce is good to go.

The Bombers quarterback has recovered from a bruised quadriceps injury and will start Saturday’s game in Toronto against the Argonauts.

“I’m going to take some hits in the game, but I feel fine,” Pierce said Thursday. “I feel up to it, and I feel good enough to go out there and perform at a very high level.”

Pierce left last Thursday’s 21-20 loss to the Calgary Stampeders at half time. He suffered the injury on a late hit from Robert McCune, and the Bombers didn’t want him to aggravate the injury in the second half.

Pierce practised the last three days, and head coach Paul LaPolice felt the 29-year-old was moving well enough to play against the Boatmen.

“Buck was fine today,” LaPolice said. “There was no soreness from yesterday. He was able to move fine today, so he’ll start.”

The Bombers are putting a little more emphasis on Saturday’s game, as it’s their second of four meetings with the Argos. Winnipeg won the first clash two weeks ago, 22-16 at Canad Inns Stadium, and a win at Rogers Centre would guarantee at least a season split.
