The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released veteran offensive lineman Luke Fritz on Thursday — another sure sign that the club plans to draft at least one young O-lineman.
The former Montreal Alouette joined the Bombers in 2009 and played 36 games for the local CFL club.
“Luke is a consummate professional both on and off the field, and he exemplified that throughout his two seasons with us,” Bombers GM Joe Mack said in a release. “We thank him for his dedication to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and this community, and wish him the best.”
The Bombers have been stockpiling younger Hogs and are expected to pick OL Scott Mitchell with their No. 1 overall choice next month.
