WINNIPEG - It is official now. David Asper has been confirmed as one of two new members of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers board, the local CFL club announced Friday.
Asper is a past chairman of the board and a former vice-chair of the CFL Board of Governors, and was the main push behind a new football stadium for the Bombers. Although Asper is no longer involved in the stadium, a new facility is currently being erected at the University of Manitoba campus.
Joining Asper on the board will be Phil Sheegl, who is the deputy chief administrator for the City of Winnipeg. Sheegl was also enrolled in the Re/Max Hall of Fame and is the founder and president of Winnix Properties. He is the vice-chair of the Winnipeg Employee Benefits Board of Trustees and serves on the boards of the Winnipeg Convention Centre, CentreVenture Development Corporation and Habitat for Humanity.
