One of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ all-time greats has died.

Herb Gray, a defensive end who was part of four Grey Cup championship teams from 1956-65, passed away at the age of 76, in Goosecreek, Texas.

Gray was the first defensive player to win the CFL’s Most Outstanding Lineman Award (1960). He was also a seven-time divisional all-star and a league all-star in 1962.

Named Winnipeg’s top defensive player of the half-century in 1980, Gray was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1983.
