There’s still no new field goal kicker in town, but there will be soon.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach Paul LaPolice says the team will bring in a replacement, or at the very least, competition, for the struggling Alexis Serna.

“We’re in the process of bringing in somebody to compete,” LaPolice said Monday. “We’ll have an announcement when it’s finalized. Definitely somebody will be in this week.”

LaPolice wouldn’t commit to making a change by Friday’s rematch with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but didn’t rule it out, either.

Serna has been the CFL’s least accurate kicker through six games, hitting on just eight of 14 tries.

He missed field goals from 28 and 32 yards in Saturday’s 29-22 loss in Hamilton.
