The Winnipeg Blue Bombers got some good news late Thursday.

Odell Willis has returned to Winnipeg after dealing with a personal issue in the U.S. all week and will accompany the team to Calgary on Friday morning.

The Bombers (2-2) battle the Stampeders (3-1) on Saturday night at McMahon Stadium.

The 25-year-old defensive end went home to Georgia on Sunday to deal with what sources said was an immigration issue. He missed all three practices during the week, with Armond Willis (no relation) taking his place in the starting lineup.

Armond Willis was even told he would be getting his first professional start on Saturday, but that won’t be happening now. Not only will Odell Willis be plenty motivated to face his former team, but he has 12 sacks in 20 career CFL games.

Of the four players who came to Winnipeg in last September’s trade for receivers Romby Bryant and Arjei Franklin, Odell Willis is the only one still with the Bombers.

Another, receiver Jabari Arthur, was released by the Bombers earlier this month and re-signed with the Stampeders. There’s a good chance he’ll be in the lineup for Calgary on Saturday night.
