Bombers, Pierce still miles apart

Negotiations between the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Buck Pierce continue to move at a snail’s pace.

Bomber GM Joe Mack said proposals and other contract parameters have been exchanged between the team and the free-agent quarterback’s agent, but the sides remain far apart.

“There’s been nothing negative, but we’re not in the same ball park yet,” Mack said Thursday.

The Bombers want to bring four quarterbacks to training camp, but Stefan LeFors wants a new contract and may not report if he doesn’t get one.

Pierce’s agent, Brian Cox, is looking for a contract that, with incentives, could pay his client close to the $300,000 a season he earned when he was with the B.C. Lions.
