MONTREAL ALOUETTES (13-3) 24

Winnipeg quarterback Michael (Long Bomb) Bishop rebounded from a terrible outing by completing 17 of 33 passes for 411 yards and two touchdowns, including a 57-yarder to slotback Terrence Edwards and 53-yarder to wide receiver Titus Ryan. Honourable mention to Edwards, who also had a 50-yard catch to set up another TD and led all receivers with 156 yards on six receptions.

Top defensive player

Winnipeg linebacker Barrin Simpson led both teams with seven defensive tackles and added two pass knockdowns. Honourable mention to Bomber defensive end Odell Willis, who had three defensive tackles and two quarterback sacks.

Top special teams player

Winnipeg returner Jovon Johnson returned six punts for 108 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown. He also returned six kickoffs for 146 yards.

Key play

Montreal had just scored to pull within 24-18 in the third quarter but the Bombers answered immediately. Bishop completed a 50-yard pass to Edwards to set up a Ricky Santos TD that restored Winnipeg's 11-point lead, and Winnipeg never looked back.

Smack of the match

Bomber safety Ian Logan simply stuck Montreal kick returner Larry Taylor on a kickoff return.

Highlight reel

Johnson fielded a punt, went one way, reversed his field, broke tackles, turned upfield and broke away for an electrifying 79-yard punt return -- the fourth-longest in club history.
