Troy Westwood is back.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added the franchise's leading scorer to their practice roster, and he'll likely be in the lineup as a punter on Saturday against the Montreal Alouettes.

Winnipeg placekicker Alexis Serna struggled as the punter in Sunday's 24-21 loss to the B.C. Lions, and the Bombers lost the field position battle badly.

Serna had to punt as well because Mike Renaud was lost for the season on Thanksgiving Monday in Hamilton.

Westwood, who spent most of his 17-year CFL career as a placekicker, added punting to his repertoire after Bob Cameron retired in 2003 and produced decent numbers in the role.

The 42-year-old was released prior to the start of the 2008 season after struggling in the pre-season, but his relationship with then head coach Doug Berry was frosty at best.

Westwood was a guest columnist for the Winnipeg Sun last season and has been working in the radio business this year, among other ventures.
