B.C. LIONS (8-7) 24

WINNIPEG BLUE BOMBERS (6-9) 21

TOP OFFENSIVE PLAYER

B.C. quarterback Travis Lulay completed 13 of 24 passes for 177 yards and one touchdown, with two interceptions, a relief role after starter Buck Pierce suffered a shoulder injury in the first quarter. Lulay also rushed for 92 yards on seven carries, including several critical carries to maintain possession with the outcome still on the line.

TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYER

Winnipeg defensive tackle Doug Brown recorded seven defensive tackles, a quarterback sack and a fumble recovery, and the Bomber defence seemed less effective whenever he was given a breather. Honourable mention to Winnipeg cornerback Jovon Johnson, who recorded three defensive tackles, a knockdown and two interceptions.

TOP SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER

B.C. kicker Paul McCallum made all three field goals he attempted and punted for almost a 45-yard average.

KEY PLAY

Hanging on to a three-point lead with the Bombers desperate to get the ball back, Lulay ran for first down on second and long with just over a minute left to maintain possession. The Bombers never did get the ball back.

SMACK OF THE MATCH

Lions defensive back Korey Banks blasted quarterback Michael Bishop so hard that he fumbled the ball away, setting up a McCallum field goal.

HIGHLIGHT REEL

Winnipeg slotback Terrence Edwards grabbed an intermediate pass from Bishop, then deked, juked and jived his way for a 55-yard gain that set up an Alexis Serna field goal.
