"Practice? You talking about practice?"
Winnipeg slotback Terrence Edwards actually practised for the first time in ages yesterday. Although the import missed the last two matches due to a concussion, Edwards did not practise much before that because he had a nagging turf toe injury.
"I was kidding him the whole time, I was doing my whole Allen Iverson routine (above quote) behind him," said Blue Bombers head coach Mike Kelly. "But he's a good football player and he was out there working at it ... (He) ran some nice routes and looking like he was pretty fresh ... He's been our most consistent playmaker throughout the entirety of the season."
Despite missing the two games, Edwards is second on the club with 36 receptions for 518 yards and four touchdowns. Adarius Bowman leads with 37 for 566 and four TDs. Edwards will play when the Bombers face the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton this Monday.
"Terrence will add an element to the offence, a guy that's been around, catches the ball well, runs great routes," said quarterback Michael Bishop. "Coming off the concussion that he had, I'm hoping that guys don't go after after him."
NO WALLS? DE Gavin Walls (knee) missed practice for the second straight day but Kelly said they were just being careful not to aggravate the injury. LB Joe Lobendahn (hamstring) also rested yesterday. The status for both players for Monday's match will be decided today.
If Walls cannot play, expect Phillip Hunt to replace him. If Lobendahn cannot make the trip, expect Barrin Simpson to make the trip.
