Bad news comes in threes

Luckily for Terrence Edwards, he does not remember much about that nightmarish weekend in Montreal two weeks ago.

First, the Winnipeg slotback suffered a concussion after an hellacious hit from Alouettes linebacker Shea Emry -- who was later fined for the dirty play.

Right after that devastating loss, two of his Blue Bombers teammates -- receivers Romby Bryant and Arjei Franklin -- were traded to Calgary. Then he got word that someone had broken into his home in Atlanta.

"It was a bad weekend for me -- got concussed, find out my house had been burglarized (and the trade)," Edwards said yesterday. "It was a bad weekend but the sun will rise again."

Edwards, who just returned from Atlanta, lost some electronics and college championship rings in one of a string of robberies in his neighbourhood that weekend. He does have insurance and the University of Georgia is willing to replace those rings.

Because of the concussion, Edwards missed the last two matches -- both wins.

"I wanted to be out there but I'm not going to play around with the concussion I had," he said. "It was great just to see the guys out there and play hard in all three phases of the game. That was exciting to see and I'm excited to come back and help win more games."

Although Edwards did not practise yesterday, he is just waiting for clearance from the doctors.

"But the way things are going now, it looks like I will be back this week," said Edwards, adding the rest has also helped his turf toe injury. "I'm feeling a whole lot better."

WALLS OUT?: Import DE Gavin Walls missed yesterday's practice with a knee injury and may miss Monday's match against the Tiger-Cats in Hamilton.

"We're evaluating his knee right now," said Bomber head coach Mike Kelly.

The Bombers are expected to add DE Chase Ortiz to their roster.

BATTLING BLUE: A fight between OL Steve Morley and DE Odell Willis broke out towards the end of yesterday's practice.

"It was all in good fun," Kelly claimed. "It was just we're in a testosterone and adrenaline-driven business and those things happen."

HASHMARKS: The Bombers welcomed DB Levonne Rowan -- Jovon Johnson's cousin -- to practice as the club is allowed to expand its practice roster ... S Shawn Gallant also missed yesterday's workout ... WR/KR Ramonce Taylor, who had been at Winnipeg's training camp, has been added to Edmonton's practice roster.
