TOP OFFENSIVE PLAYER

Give it to the guy under the microscope. Winnipeg quarterback Stefan LeFors completed five of eight passes for 98 yards but more importantly, he led the Blue Bombers to 19 first-quarter points. Honourable mentions to quarterback Bryan Randall, wide receiver Romby Bryant and running back Yvenson Bernard.

TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYER

Blue Bombers cornerback James Johnson set the stage with a first-quarter interception of a Kevin Glenn pass, setting up Winnipeg's first TD. Honourable mention to Winnipeg cornerback Willie Byrd, who made a leaping pick in the third quarter, defensive end Chase Ortiz, who put pressure on Hamilton quarterbacks all night, and linebacker Jasper Johnson.

TOP SPECIAL TEAMER

Looks like you can pencil Ramonce Taylor in as Winnipeg's kick returner this season. Taylor came close to breaking a few with his best one being a 49-yard kickoff return. And we'll forgive him his fumble that could have proven more costly than a field goal. Honourable mention to linebacker Neil Ternovatsky, who made three special teams tackles before the third quarter was over.

KEY PLAY

Bomber quarterback Stefan LeFors completed a 41-pass to wide receiver Romby Bryant to set up Winnipeg's second touchdown, taking a 19-0 lead before the first quarter was over.

SMACK OF THE MATCH

Winnipeg cornerback Willie Byrd laid the lumber on Hamilton slotback Dave Stala just after he caught a short pass.

HIGHLIGHT REEL

Winnipeg quarterback Bryan Randall aired out a long bomb to wide receiver Romby Bryant, who snatched it out of the air, deked a defender and raced down the sidelines for a 52-yard gain, his balance taking him out of bounds at the Hamilton three.
