DAY FOUR

STAR OF THE DAY

Let's give the nod to rookie receiver Justin Surrency, who made a pair of tremendous catches in the afternoon session.

CATCH OF THE DAY

Arjei Franklin leaped up on James Johnson and held on to the ball while falling down on top of the cornerback. Franklin got a round of applause from the crowd.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Yeah, hiring me."

-- Head coach Mike Kelly, when asked what the team's best off-season move was

YUCKY

The coaching staff threw more information at its players on Tuesday night, and it showed on the field during yesterday morning's practice. TSN had a microphone on Kelly for a feature it is doing, and the camera man counted 28 F-bombs from the head coach during the first 45 minutes of the workout. "I think that's pretty good," Kelly said. "I'm cutting down." Kelly didn't go too hard on his players, however. "We had brain cramps today. You can understand that, but you have to push them along a little bit and you have to show your displeasure."

HURTIN'

Kicker Dan Giancola still hasn't practised and likely won't do so until next week. Other players on the injured list yesterday included linebacker Jasper Johnson, receiver Romby Bryant, cornerback Willie Amos, linebacker Siddeeq Shabazz, safety Shawn Gallant, linebacker Joe Lobendahn and receiver Derick Armstrong.

TIDBITS

Matt O'Meara has been getting plenty of reps at left tackle with the first-team offensive line ... Former Manitoba Bisons receiver Terry Firr was watching from the sidelines yesterday but could be added to the camp roster soon ... Defensive back Darrius Battles had his first action of main camp after missing the first three days with a foot injury ... Two practices today, at 7:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The public is welcome to watch at Canad Inns Stadium.
