The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed an import defensive lineman with CFL experience and a quarterback who has been in the NFL, the club announced yesterday.

Montez Murphy is a 6-foot-6, 260-pound Baylor product who played 12 games for the Edmonton Eskimos last season. He recorded 24 defensive tackles, three quarterback sacks and had four pass knockdowns.

"Montez is someone I am very familiar with," Bombers head coach Mike Kelly, who was an Edmonton assistant last year, said in a release. "He had some outstanding games last season with Edmonton, and we believe, with continued grooming, he can be an asset off the edge as a pass rusher and provide us with very good depth."

James Kilian, the QB, is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound Tulsa product who spent time with both Atlanta and Indianapolis after being picked by Kansas City in the 2005 NFL draft.
