Mark Nelson has taken one more step toward becoming the next defensive co-ordinator of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers by resigning his position at the University of Louisville.

As the Sun first reported in December, Nelson will join his old boss, new Bomber head coach Mike Kelly, in Winnipeg. The two worked together at Valdosta State University from 1997-99.

An Edmonton native who played in the CFL in the 1980s, Nelson ran the special teams at Louisville this past season.

Greg Marshall, Winnipeg's defensive co-ordinator the last three years, is joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the same capacity.
