We listened ... the pullout is back

It's kind of a good-news, bad-news day for local sports fans.

On the downside, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers were knocked out of the playoffs yesterday by the Edmonton Eskimos at Canad Inns stadium. But on the bright side, at least you're getting to read about it in a better-than-ever Sun sports section.

After about six months of going with a back-to-front format, we've decided to switch back to a daily pullout for the Sun sports pages. The decision was made after a one-day trial run last Sunday, during which we asked readers to weigh in with their opinions.

The result of our informal poll? Well, let's just say it wasn't quite as close as the U.S. election. When all the phone calls and e-mails were counted, we had about 200 votes in favour of returning to the sports pullout and just six against.

While a back-to-front format may make it easier to find the start of the sports pages, readers overwhelmingly told us they preferred having the ability to share the newspaper, with one person reading the news section and the other reading the sports. So no more tug-of-wars over the breakfast table.

As always, we want to hear any feedback from readers about this move or anything else in the Winnipeg Sun.
