The proud poppa has returned to play another CFL game.

Veteran Winnipeg cornerback Juran Bolden missed Sunday's loss to Toronto because he had returned to his Atlanta home to be with his wife, who was giving birth to their first child, a baby boy named Jaden Juran.

Although Bolden had planned to join the Blue Bombers in Toronto, a health issue with the baby cropped up. He was rushed to the hospital on Friday and Bolden decided to stay.

"Yeah, we had a little scare," Bolden said after returning to yesterday's practice. "We just didn't know what was going on with my son."

Let's just say he was plugged up.

"With my wife being a first-time parent, she was nervous and I was nervous, too," said Bolden. "He's good, he's healthy and that's the only thing that matters. He's great now. He's able to go to the bathroom.

"I appreciate (Bombers GM) Brendan (Taman) and the whole organization allowing me to go home to take care of my family. That just shows what kind of organization they are ... That's why I want to come back here and kick some butt this weekend. When guys stick up for you, you always want to go back and do your best for them so, that's what I'm doing."

But why Jaden Juran?

"Jaden's kind of cool," Bolden replied. "So, when the chicks get at him, he'll be ready."

MORE INSIGHT: Bomber head coach Doug Berry said the club called 12 running plays against Toronto but the Argo defence was not the only reason it was abandoned.

"When we brought in bigger personnel (tight ends), we had a couple of issues with the blocking schemes," he said. "We had first and 10 at the 39-yard line and we go backwards. That had to do with the offensive line and the running back (Charles Roberts). Second and three at the 39, we hand the ball off and go backwards. So twice, we were at the 39-yard line and get knocked back out of field goal range. That doesn't make you feel real confident in the running game from that point of view."

HASHMARKS: DT Jerome Haywood, who missed yesterday's practice, will have his bicep further examined today ... S Kyries Hebert also missed practice due to a "family issue" but should be back today, Berry said ... SB Milt Stegall (shoulder), who missed the last game, returned to practice yesterday ... Although neither DBs Davin Bush nor Greg Moss (hamstring problems) practised yesterday, Berry expects them to participate in today's session.
