TOP OFFENSIVE PLAYER
The old guy has still got it. Not that we had doubted. Veteran slotback Milt Stegall caught five passes for 82 yards, including a 52-yarder from quarterback Kevin Glenn. We will forgive him for losing his balance on the play because he got up and ran.
TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYER
Bomber defensive back Davin Bush is a keeper. Not only did he pick off a Rocky Butler pass and return it 47 yards to set up a second-quarter touchdown but he also knocked down passes and was always around the ball. Honourable mention to defensive end Tom Canada who had two quarterback sacks.
TOP SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER
Bomber punter Pat Fleming was solid on the night, kicking for an average of about 42 yards. More importantly, he did not panic when Jordan Matechuk sailed a snap over his head. Fleming chased the ball down near his goalline, then conceded a safety. Smart play.
Hamilton placekicker Mark Myers had just kicked a 16-yard field goal to give the Tiger-Cats a 21-20 lead. But there was still 2:02 left, plenty of time to at least tie. But Hamilton defensive back Kevin Timothee picked off Justin Holland's first pass of the drive and returned the ball to the Winnipeg 35. That set up a 34-yard Myers field goal with 1:17 remaining.
Bomber quarterback Kevin Glenn completed a 52-yard pass to veteran slotback Stegall in the second quarter. Had Stegall not fallen after losing his balance, he could have rambled for a TD. To his credit, Stegall got up and ran another 10 yards or so, setting up a 26-yard field goal.
HIT OF THE GAME
Hamilton defensive back Sasha Glavic rocked Bomber tailback Fred Reid on an incompleted pass play. Reid, however, bounced right up.
