STAR OF THE DAY

Veteran wide receiver Derick Armstrong made several outstanding receptions while in tight coverage. Honourable mentions to QB Ryan Dinwiddie, WR Albert Johnson III, WR Arjei Franklin, SB Chris Brazzell and DB Kelly Malveaux.

CATCH OF THE DAY

Veteran wide receiver Jamie Stoddard slid to ground between two defenders and somehow made a stupendous catch, one those where you wonder, 'How did he do that?'

HIT OF THE DAY

Bomber head coach Doug Berry almost ran over QB Matt Bohnet with his golf cart. Actually, Bohnet backed into the moving cart that Berry had just driven on to the field and was limping noticeably afterwards.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

"(Middle linebacker Barrin Simpson) looks fast, he's practising hard. He's doing everything you'd want from a leader. He's not just a vocal guy but guys can look around and say, 'This guy, I'll follow him.'"

BATTLE OF THE DAY

Winnipeg is desperate to find a replacement for Ike Charlton, who signed with the Detroit Lions of the NFL as a free agent last winter. Former Hamilton Tiger-Cat Chris Martin seems to have an edge but he is being pushed hard by rookie Cam Hall. Toney Edison, another rookie, was also impressing the coaches before an injury slowed him up. Corey Jenkins has also gotten some work there.

"We just have to work had to find someone who can hopefully play as well as Ike did," said defensive co-ordinator Greg Marshall. "I mean, we had to play some games last year without Ike (then injured). (Cornerback) Stanford Samuels played there and (defensive half) Kelly Malveaux played there so, we have had some experience playing without Ike -- not to downplay his contributions because he did do a very good job for us."
