A rare fight broke out during the morning session of the Winnipeg training camp -- and this one was nastier than most.
Blue Bombers defensive end Tom Canada faced off against offensive lineman Matt O'Meara and fists were flying. But, after Canada appeared to either kick or knee the young lineman, O'Meara clumped to the ground.
After attention from the trainers, O'Meara left the practice field with a bloody nose. But he returned for the afternoon session. Canada, however, did not.
"That stuff happens," said Bomber head coach Doug Berry. "You've got to maintain the discipline in practice. You've got to realize it's a teammate and back off. In a game, you've got have the control not to even let it happen.
"So, I don't want it to ever get out of control and if it gets out of control, then I have to take the necessary steps to put the brakes on and nip it in the bud right here and there."
So, was Canada being disciplined in the afternoon then?
"Well, he had to catch up on some film work," Berry responded coyly.
Perhaps, the movie Ghandi is now in the Bomber library.
