First Onterrio Smith.

Now Daunte Culpepper.

Could Randy Moss be next?

Winnipeg Blue Bombers GM Brendan Taman is once again up to his old tricks with his negotiation list, this time adding Culpepper, the Miami Dolphins quarterback, to his crop of protected players.

"I haven't done one in a long time, and I was getting a little rusty with my list, so it was nice to put one on," Taman said.

Taman made the move only because Culpepper's status with Miami is uncertain after the Dolphins acquired Trent Green from the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this week.

Culpepper, whose best NFL days were with the Minnesota Vikings, still earns more than $5 million US per season. The CFL's salary cap this year is $4.05 million Cdn per team.

And that's just one of many reasons why Culpepper won't be coming to town anytime soon.

"The chances are probably 99 million to one -- today," Taman said. "In five years, who knows "He might be a guy that falls through the cracks in two or three years. Whether or not he stays on the neg list for two or three years, I don't know. But he's on there now.

Culpepper is just the latest in a long line of quirky names Taman has added to the 35-player list. Others include wrestler Brock Lesnar, sprinter Donovan Bailey and NFLers Kordell Stewart and Deion Sanders.

Taman also put mechanical engineer Brian Diesbourg on the list two years ago. He's the guy who kicked a 50-yard field goal to win $1 million at a Toronto Argonauts game.
