The Winnipeg Sun is teaming up with the Blue Bombers to help enhance the football experience for local fans.

The Sun and the Winnipeg football club have reached a three-year agreement to produce a glossy, comprehensive game-day program, which will provide fans with in depth information about the Bombers and their opponents while helping to raise money for both the team and the Never Alone Foundation.

The program will be on sale at all Bombers home games, including exhibition, for $2. One dollar from every program sold will go to the Never Alone Foundation, which supports cancer research.

"First, it's a great product that the Winnipeg Sun has come up with as far as fans are concerned," said Blue Bombers president and CEO Lyle Bauer.

"It will be great reading with up-to-date information that will be going in there and player features, and it's a way to link the football club with the Never Alone Foundation.

"One dollar from the sale of each program will go to the foundation and that will be very, very good and that's just another way the football club gives back and the Winnipeg Sun has done a great job of coming up with this idea and this format and has come up with a great, quality product ... It's a reasonable price for a very, very good product."

The new souvenir program, called Go Blue, will be chock full of lineups, depth charts, player profiles, features and stories about Blue Bombers past and present.

"You've really got a triple-win here," said Sun publisher Ed Huculak. "It's a great product for the fans and something that is going to raise money for both the Blue Bombers and the Never Alone Foundation. Ever since the launch of the Winnipeg Sun Centre, the Bombers and the Sun have developed a real win-win partnership and we continue to grow that partnership.

"When the opportunity came up to grow our relationship with the Bombers, we came up with an idea. It was designed so the diehard fan can go home with a souvenir that they can collect."

The Sun will also continue to produce Home Turf, an in depth look at each Blue Bombers home game, this season. Home Turf will be available in the Sun, one or two days prior to home games.

Go Blue will debut at the Bombers home exhibition game against Hamilton on June 14. The Bombers first regular-season home game is July 5 against Montreal.
