Barrett not in Bombers future

You can strike Danny Barrett off the list of Winnipeg Blue Bomber offensive co-ordinator candidates.

"Doug (Berry) told me earlier today that we wouldn't be continuing talks with him and that he was heading elsewhere," GM Brendan Taman said last night.

Reports are Barrett, the former Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach, has accepted the job of quarterbacks coach at the University of Buffalo.

"We were never in a position to think we had him," Taman said. "But he was a guy obviously we targeted to get here."

Former Montreal Alouettes co-ordinator Kevin Strasser, who worked with Berry, is likely the new front-runner, but there's also a chance Berry will do the job himself, since it's his offence anyway.

"It's a possibility, that's for sure," Taman said.
