Glenn doing the job

School may still be in session but Winnipeg quarterback Kevin Glenn is responding to his critics with his play on the field.

"I like what he's doing and he's doing it at the right time of year, too," said Blue Bombers GM Brendan Taman. "A lot of people challenged him going into the stretch, myself included. But he's thrown six touchdown passes with no interceptions in the last two games. That's huge."

Glenn, who missed three games due to injury, has simply done the job he has been asked to do.

"He's 9-5 as our starting quarterback and what you ask your quarterback to do is lead your team to wins," said head coach Doug Berry. "Although we haven't been flamboyant, that's not the structure of the offence.

"He's been really consistent and I've been really happy with him."

LOLLIPOP LAND: Bomber tailback Charles Roberts gave the proper kudos to his offensive line after clinching his second consecutive rushing title but the defence also deserves its due for stopping Calgary RB Joffrey Reynolds.

"I asked Charlie for a lollipop on Tuesday so, I'll expect him to give us one," joked DL Doug Brown. "We're all going to wait for our Christmas cards and our little thank you notes from Mr. Roberts. That's a tribute to his talent and our defence stepping up when we needed to."

OFF BENCH: CB Omar Evans was given a reprieve after getting benched in the second half of the Winnipeg-Hamilton game and turned in a solid performance against Calgary's explosive receiving corps.

"The coaches sat me down and talked to me early in the week -- coach (Greg) Marshall and coach (Gregg) Butler -- and told me they wanted me to keep playing with the same confidence that I had been playing with before, and to go out there and still make plays but do it within the scheme of the defence," Evans said. "That's what I did (Saturday) and that's what I've been doing all year. Everyone has breakdowns and last week, I had a breakdown. Mentally, I wasn't focused in the game and this game, I came back and I got it done -- like I've been getting it done for the last two years."

HASHMARKS: The Bombers will start selling tickets to a potential playoff game to their season ticket holders today. If there is no playoff game, purchases will be credited towards 2007 season tickets. Playoff tickets will go on sale to the general public on Nov. 1. There will be no increase in prices ... OL Mike Abou-Mechrek (ribs) will sit out today's practice, Berry said.
