Bombers Game Day

KIRK PENTON -- Winnipeg Sun

REMEMBER WHEN ...

The Bombers fell 30-21 to the Stampeders last August at McMahon Stadium? Two late Winnipeg scores made it appear closer than it was, as current Bomber DB Anthony Malbrough picked off Kevin Glenn and Tee Martin to help set up Stampeder touchdowns. Glenn got hurt in the first quarter, and Martin completed only five of 14 passes for 79 yards before giving way to Russ Michna.

FORECAST ...

Not nice. Cloudy with a 60% chance of rain showers or wet snow in the morning, with rain beginning late in the day. High of 7 C.

QUIRKY STAT ...

Aside from the meaningless regular-season finale in 2004 in which he completed 15 of 20 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns, Bombers QB Kevin Glenn has been good on only 34 of 74 attempts and has served up six interceptions against the Stamps in his career.

KEEP AN EYE ON ...

Winnipeg's Garrick Jones, No. 66

He's the third left tackle the Bombers have employed this season after Dan Goodspeed (knee) and Jermese Jones (demoted), and they hope he's their last.

WHO'S HOT

NO. 85 MILT STEGALL

Another week, another 100-yard game for Turtle Man. The slotback hauled in seven catches for 110 yards and his 135th career touchdown against Saskatchewan.

NO. 28 J.R. RUFFIN

The defensive back returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score last week against Edmonton that got the Stamps back in the game.

WHO'S NOT

NO. 23 KYRIES HEBERT

The former safety struggled in his first game at the weak-side linebacker spot last week against the Riders, but keeping an eye on Kenton Keith is never easy.

NO. 1 HENRY BURRIS

The quarterback had only 124 passing yards and a fumble last week against the Eskimos, and his time-count violation in the last three minutes of the game, which forced the Stamps to punt, didn't help.

MILESTONE WATCH

RB Charles Roberts needs two touchdowns to move past Ernie Pitts and into fifth place on Winnipeg's all-time list with 56.

QB Henry Burris needs two touchdown passes to reach 100 in his CFL career.
