TOP OFFENSIVE PLAYER
Winnipeg slotback Milt Stegall caught seven passes 110 yards and a key touchdown. He gets the nod over tailback Charles Roberts, who rushed for 103 yards on 22 carries.
TOP DEFENSIVE PLAYER
Bomber linebacker Barrin Simpson recorded five tackles and recovered a Kenton Keith fumble, setting up a Troy Westwood field goal. He was also an integral part of holding Keith to 17 yards rushing on nine carries. Honourable mention to Saskatchewan defensive end Terrell Jurineack, who had five tackles and two quarterback sacks.
TOP SPECIAL TEAM PLAYER
Winnipeg placekicker Troy Westwood, who initiated the Banjo Bowl, booted four field goals, although he did miss two long ones. And his punts into the wind were well-placed even if they weren't pretty. Besides, without him, there would be no Banjo Bowl.
SMAC KOF THE GAME
Simpson simply stuffed Keith on an attempted run with defensive lineman Doug Brown laying on the lumber to finish him off.
Stegall caught a 46-yard reception from quarterback Kevin Glenn to set up the winning five-yard TD by Roberts early in the fourth quarter.
Stegall leapt high into the air at the back of the end zone to haul in a 13-yard TD pass from Glenn to tie the game 20-20 late in the third quarter. The play also breathed new life into the sagging home side.
