Been puzzled by the play-calling of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers since quarterback Kevin Glenn got hurt?
Apparently, head coach Doug Berry has been, too.
Earlier this week, Berry said he sometimes wondered why the Bombers haven't given the ball to Charles Roberts more often.
Yesterday, he talked about ways to take pressure off quarterback Mike Quinn against the Toronto Argonauts tonight.
"Call plays where we're running the ball more," Berry said. "Sometimes we call running plays, but because of the defence they're in it ends up being a pass. We need to be in a formation where we do, indeed, hand the ball off."
While second-year offensive coordinator Mike Gibson calls the plays, it sounds like Berry has had more input in the game plan this week.
"I was involved this week," he said, flatly.
More than usual?
"I was involved."
MISSING NO. 5: So who do you think the Bombers have missed more: quarterback Kevin Glenn or receiver Milt Stegall?
Berry's vote goes to his signal-caller.
"Without question, Kevin Glenn," the coach said. "It's so hard to get a quarterback developed in this league. At the time of his injury, we were second in total offence."
Since then, the Bomber offence has generated a paltry four points in seven quarters.
