The Sun's Kirk Penton sat down with Bombers linebacker Kyries Hebert to learn a little more about him, including his soft side, why you'll want his services if you're building a barn and why he's maybe only a phone call away from hanging with Beyonce ...
Favourite Canadian? From Shaw TV, Kim Babij. She is, by far, my favourite Canadian.
First car? It was 1998, and I had a 1995 Mitsubishi Gallant. It was fast.
Dream car? Ferrari Spider.
Sexiest movie star? They just need to put me in a movie and I'll say myself.
What's your cellphone ring tone? I don't have one. It's pretty basic.
Best word to describe you growing up? Active.
TV show you're ashamed to say you watch? The TV show I'm afraid to say is my favourite show -- Friends. I love Friends. I like all the characters. All of them. I can tell you the first and last names of each character on set and off set.
Which Bomber has the most style? Me. I like myself more than I like any of these other guys. And my style is nothing special, but it's mine.
Who would play you in the movies? They'd probably have to get someone like Tyrese. He's a little dark, but he'll have to do. I'm not quite that dark, but he'll do.
Food you won't eat? Escargot.
Does Barry Bonds deserve to be in the Hall of Fame? I would say yes, because I don't feel like I'm in a position to discredit all the accomplishments that he has achieved throughout his career. Because who says what happened when. There's no timeline. No one can draw an adequate timeline of what happened in his career.
What do you miss most about college? Experiencing true love. That was when the flowers bloom in the springtime ... birds and all that good stuff.
How many pairs of shoes do you own? 100-plus, 200-plus. It's definitely over 100. I probably have, like, 40 pair with me here in Winnipeg. I like shoes. I even have some golf shoes with me.
What's your handicap? Oh, I'm horrible. I enjoy it. I haven't been on a course more than five times ever, and I really enjoy it, but I just don't have the time to really get into it. I enjoy some miniature golf, too. I like the putting. That's the strong part of my game.
The most famous person in your cellphone directory? I have Matthew Knowles' office number. That's Beyonce's dad. He manages her, and he's actually done some work with my agent this summer.
Have you ever met Beyonce? No. I went to the office, and I was hoping she would be there, and she wasn't there. But it was a great pleasure to sit there with her dad. He and I have a lot to look forward to, as far as just seeing the path that he took to attain the things that he has. It shows that it's possible, and he was a very influential person to meet, very inspiring.
First job? I worked with my city (Eunice, La.) after I graduated from high school. We were building a barn or something in the heat. It was hot. It was 100-plus, and we were out in the sun. No shade. But those guys took it easy on me. I was getting ready for college, so they kind of babysat me. I dug a couple holes. That's about it.
Website you visit most? kyrieshebert.com.
Favourite dog breed? I like pit bulls.
Childhood nicknames? I had a couple. I used to run around barefoot, and you remember the cartoon Captain Caveman? They used to call me that.
Last movie you saw in a theatre? Miami Vice. It was good. Go see it. It's a movie worth seeing. Especially with movies, I don't think you should base it on what critics say or what someone else says, because you never know what kind of mood they're in. You can't take it from a person.
Favourite thing about the CFL? The referees. You never know what you're going to get.
Favourite movie of all time? The Devil's Advocate. Al Pacino, Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron.
What's in your CD player right now? I'm very diverse in the music that I listen to. I only listen to music in the car or on the satellite at home. I listen to a lot of R&B, alternative, like Green Day and Nickelback. I'm very open with my music.
Last big purchase? When I was in Hamilton I bought a white linen jacket, a very nice white linen jacket with a fitted shirt underneath and some jeans for like 300 bucks. It was 300 bucks well spent.
What scares you? To lose everyone in my life that I love. That scares me to death, because I know that it is very capable of happening. Things that are real. Not monsters or spirits or anything like that. The actual thought of losing everyone that means everything to me, yeah, that's the scary part.
