Onterrio Smith isn't totally ready for Winnipeg Blue Bombers main training camp to begin, but he's feeling a little bit better after three days of rookie camp.

Smith, the suspended NFL running back who signed with the Bombers last week, is out of shape after being out of football for 16 months.

He's about 20 pounds over his playing weight of 220, but his three days of workouts this week has him feeling better going into tomorrow's first day of practice.

"Man, this means the world to me," Smith said yesterday. "For me to be able to come in with three days under my belt before Sunday, that's real big from my standpoint."

Veterans report today for physicals and meetings. First practice tomorrow is at 8 a.m.

Charles Roberts is getting married today and won't be hitting the field until Monday morning.

AND WE QUOTE: "A lot of guys criticize the organization or us as individuals for welcoming us here because of the simple fact we've been banned from the league for a year. At the same time, it's a great opportunity for us to get our act together, mature a little bit as people and still play football."

-- Smith, when asked about another suspended NFL running back, Ricky Williams, potentially joining the Toronto Argonauts.

STANDOUTS: Head coach Doug Berry singled out S Ian Logan, CBs Gabriel Fulbright and Jazzmen Williams, WR Andrae Thurman and DE Stevie Baggs for their play during yesterday's final rookie camp session.

Baggs is the one who stood out the most during the three-day camp.

"Our D-ends are going to have their hands full," Berry said of Baggs. "The vets coming in are going to get some real competition.

"I can't wait to see this guy."

LATE HITS: The Bombers have added CB Sidney Haugabrook to the training camp roster. Haugabrook tried out for the NFL's Tennessee Titans last year before joining the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for a brief stint ... QB Tee Martin and LB Kyries Hebert, who won't be showing up today, anytime soon or possibly ever, will be placed on the suspended list today ... The Bombers have released OL Dan Gyetvai, who wasn't expected to pass his physical today anyway.
