Stay patient: Howell

OTTAWA -- The clouds have lifted over ex-Bomber WR/DB Markus Howell now that he has found a home with the Renegades.

"I'm not in the starting rotation but hey, I'm good," said Howell, who signed here as a free agent.

"That was a good signing for us," said Ottawa head coach Joe Paopao. "He's played well for us as our fifth receiver. But like the rest of the team, he can play better."

Howell, who had been critical of Winnipeg's preference for the since-departed Kamau Peterson over him in contract talks, would only mime zipping his lips when asked about that situation.

But Howell believes the Bombers are better than some think.

"I know the fans of Winnipeg can be pretty rough on people but they're right there in ball games," said the Winnipeg native. "The city's still yearning for that championship feeling to come back. They'll get there. They just have to be a little patient but they'll get there."
