Jim Daley is almost done interviewing assistant coaching candidates.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach has met face-to-face with 13 applicants and has conducted another five or so telephone interviews.
He has two more to do this weekend, which will put the number of hopefuls at approximately 20.
It's unknown exactly how many positions will be filled, but the Bombers had six assistants last season.
Daley will make his final decisions during the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., at the end of this month, and he hopes to start putting his staff together in early February.
Meanwhile, Bombers GM Brendan Taman said soon-to-be free agents Markus Howell and Ryland Wickman will be offered contracts, but not before the free agency period begins Feb. 15.
"We're not in a rush to go out and do anything because they have to resolve their own situation first, and we have to figure out where they fit in," Taman said last night from San Francisco, where he will scout tomorrow's East-West Shrine Game.
"There's a chance both could be back."
