Meet Keith (Replay) Stokes

He's one of the most exciting and elusive kick returners in the CFL, one beginning to draw comparisons to all-time greats like Pinball Clemons and Gizmo Williams.

The only problem was, he didn't have a nickname.

He does now.

Ladies and gentlemen, we introduce you to Blue Bomber Keith Stokes, a.k.a, Replay.

The 25-year-old was given the name by teammate Kamau Peterson, who took it upon himself to go through a list of some 70 choices supplied by Sun readers 10 days ago.

"That boy is a highlight waiting to happen," Peterson explained. "Any runback he's had, he never just takes it and goes. It's always something you want to see, like, 'How did he get out of that?' He's got that replay quality."

Peterson chose Replay ahead of popular suggestions like Lightning, The Streak and Fire, each of which drew three entries. Some of the more innovative suggestions included The Slip, The Gift and Hop-Scotch.

All pretty good, but Peterson figures Replay will stick.

"I was trying to give something original," he said. "He's a special-type player. He should have something nobody else has had. I also want him to have something that's two syllables, that the fans can really yell: 'Re-play, re-play.' That helps that 'stick' quality."

Stokes, who's returned five kicks for touchdowns in this, his first year with the Bombers, is happy with the results.

"I like that. It's kinda catchy," he said. "It's something the whole crowd can say when I'm back there. That'd be sweet.

"Spread the word. I hope it goes like wildfire. If not, c'est la vie. Back to the drawing board."
