TORONTO - Step by step, Chad Owens has slowly tried to forge his path to a possible return to the field.

When he began to run on the side during last week’s practice, signs of optimism began to surface.

When he ran prior to Sunday’s game against the visiting B.C. Lions, hope of a return began to enter the equation.

In fact, when Lions linebacker Solomon Elimimian noticed Owens running with no hint of discomfort or hesitation, B.C.’s sublime defender asked Owens whether Toronto’s go-to receiver would suit up.

Owens didn’t play in Toronto’s loss, but even if he had it’s very doubtful the outcome would have been altered.

His presence at Wednesday’s practice did open the window for his return, presumably by as early as this Saturday when the Argos begin a stretch of road games, starting in Edmonton.
