TORONTO - On this night, the defence made its case, playing good football for most of the game.

But when an offence can’t convert on second down, when an offence can’t produce enough points and when coverage on punt returns is inferior, no defence can compensate for the glaring issues.

And so the Argos would be left to lament their 33-17 loss to the visiting B.C. Lions Sunday night, a loss that drops Toronto’s record to 3-5, while the visitors improve to 5-3.
