TORONTO - Jason Barnes is one of those guys you don’t notice until a big play needs to be made in the red zone.

He understands the Argos’ offence so well that no extended period of inactivity is likely to affect his game.

No Argos receiver has been around Ricky Ray longer than Barnes and no receiver has as much of the QB’s trust.

“First day back (from a knee injury) and they’re on the same page,’’ said head coach Scott Milanovich. “He’s Ricky’s security blanket and you can see that (Friday). There’s a comfort level between Ricky and Jason. Jason can play anywhere and he knows the offence inside and out.”

With the Argos forced to play two games in a six-day span, Friday represented the first and only full day of field work to prepare for the B.C. Lions.

Barnes took reps on Thursday, a light work day for the Argos, but was at his best in running routes and being on the receiving end of Ray’s throws downfield.
