TORONTO - The slate was wiped clean for Steve Slaton, a heralded running back who joined the Argos with no expectations, no preconceived notions of the CFL.

In Slaton’s world, it’s football, a cut-throat world where every snap presents any opportunity to make a play, every game providing a backdrop of competition.

At the end of the day, Slaton is a competitor, as fierce as they come.

When he was nursing injuries to his hamstring and hand, Slaton was limited.

In last week’s win in Montreal, a 31-5 cakewalk that featured Slaton producing two receiving touchdowns, a break-out moment was produced, one the Argos had envisioned when they signed Slaton this off-season.

“When I step out on the field, I just want to compete,’’ said Slaton. “Any situation I can help the team out, it’s what I’m going to do. Whatever the coaches ask of me, I’m going to do.”
