TORONTO - The CFL is as much a numbers game as it is a game of blocking and tackling.

It’s a league of limited numbers where depth is always an issue when a front-line player is injured, a three-down league where teams have to manage the delicate balance of imports and non-imports.

The business of the league’s future is pretty much based on the bottom-line number as talks between the CFL and its players association were ongoing late into Wednesday.

For Anthony Coombs, the No. 20 was given to him on the first day Argos rookies and quarterbacks gathered at York University, the team’s new home, at least for now.

The turf was fast, by all accounts the food was good, and a lot of officials marvelled at the overhead construction cranes that dot the university’s campus.
