Just about anything is possible in the football world Jim Barker inhabits, an astute executive who thinks outside the box, willing to pursue whatever avenue if it helps position the Argos in the short term and long term.

He’s not afraid to trade up or down in the draft, take flyers on prospects some might view as a stretch, address whatever need with the best available asset on the board.

It’s no secret in three-down football that offensive linemen remain the most coveted piece, an area Barker readily admits is the foundation of every draft.

For what it’s worth, talk around the CFL is that Barker is trying to move out of the first round, where the Argos are scheduled to select sixth overall in Tuesday night’s selection process.

Whether the Argos keep their first-round pick or use all of the eight slots they’ve acquired, it’s very unlikely any draft choice will have much of an impact this coming season.
